About
I'm Dr. Lienna Wilson, a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice and lifelong student of nervous system health.
I found yoga and meditation in my mid-20s, during a period when I was stressed, searching, and trying to find more meaning in my life. Those practices carried me through a grueling doctoral program and clinical training. By the time I finished and opened my private practice, I felt like I had the tools I needed.
Then the pandemic hit. I specialize in anxiety, and the demand for support during those years was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I was working six days a week, showing up for my clients through unprecedented uncertainty, running on fumes. Then one day, while stretching on the floor, I had a severe vertigo episode. After the vertigo passed, the lightheadedness didn't. It was accompanied by chronic nausea and a level of fatigue I had never experienced before.
I went to an ENT, a neurologist, vestibular physical therapy, and a gastroenterologist. No one had answers.
That's what sent me down the path of functional and lifestyle medicine. And that's where I first learned about the vagus nerve. Not as an abstract anatomy concept, but as a real explanation for what happens to your body when your nervous system has been running on overdrive for too long.
Digging deeper, I discovered that the research on vagal health had expanded well beyond breathing and meditation. There were vagus nerve stimulators, infrared saunas, specific physical exercises, cold exposure protocols, all with a growing body of science behind them. I started experimenting. Slowly, things improved.
What I learned through that process is something I now tell anyone who will listen: vagal toning is not a quick fix. It works more like building physical fitness. You wouldn't expect one workout to change your body. You need a routine you can sustain, and you need to find the specific combination that works for you. Once you do, the results are real.
That's what Vagus Vitality is for. I share the science, the tools I've personally tested, and the free practices that work just as well as anything you can buy. If you've tried one device and felt nothing, don't give up. My goal is to help you find the combination that actually works for your nervous system, and make it a sustainable part of your life.
I'm glad you found this place. Maybe you're managing anxiety that won't quit, recovering from burnout, dealing with a health mystery that hasn't been solved, or just curious about why your nervous system feels stuck in overdrive. Everyone who lands here has a story. I'd love to hear yours.
